Hello Lovelies!

Did everyone make it through the great Minneapolis blizzard of April 14th, 2018? Uff da! Anyway, wedding season is upon us and with any luck spring will make an appearance soon… in the meantime we want you to meet the newest member of PPWE’S vendor A-Team.

Meet JD Fisher, owner and operator of Ignite Lighting and Entertainment! We had the great pleasure of working with JD this last December at the Semple Mansion for Mila & Shawn’s big day. He wowed us with not only his DJ skills but also his out of this world lighting abilities.

Our jaws hit the floor when we saw the lighting go on in the Semple’s Grand Palladium Ballroom. JD does everything from uplighting and custom digital monograming to personalized voiceovers during your first dance or walk down the aisle (tear-jerker alert!). He is at the top of our list for anyone in need of DJ or lighting services! We got the chance to sit down with him and ask him a bit more about his company and what sets him apart.

1. When and how did you get into the wedding industry?

I fell into the industry during my freshman year of college, looking for a weekend only job. A few years later my college career was coming to an end and as I started looking for other jobs, I realized how much I loved what I was already doing. I decided to jump off the deep end and start doing it full time in 2009. Shortly after, I pursued some of the best DJ and Master of Ceremonies classes in the United States and started attending their workshops and mentoring programs.

2. What makes you different at what you do?

The amount of personalization and uniqueness that I bring to each event is what sets me a part from other DJs. I spend upwards of 60 hours on each wedding co-creating with my couples in order to make something that is representative of who they are to achieve the overall goal: creating their dream wedding!

3. What do you love most about weddings?

The atmosphere. There is something to be said about working with people on one of the happiest days of their lives. Everyone is in a good mood and ready to have a fun time! As much as it is a big responsibility, it is an honor to be chosen to represent couples on their big day!

4. What is the best compliment a client has ever given you?

When the bride and groom as well as their family come up to me at the very end of the night and give me a big sweaty hug followed by, “We had such a perfect time! We felt like you were part of the family.” There is nothing that can beat that!

5. Tell us a few things we might not know about you?

A few things you may not know about me is that I love winter camping, mountaineering, hiking and traveling when I’m not spending time with my wife and chocolate lab.
